Update: 15-04-2015 | 15:26:03

Poland is looking to foster cooperation with Vietnam in advantageous fields such as mining, food, green and advanced technologies and chemicals, said Polish Deputy Minister of Economy Grazyna Henclewska.

At a conference on investment cooperation opportunities for the two countries’ enterprises on April 14 in Hanoi, the Deputy Minister shared that as Europe’s sixth largest economy, Poland is continually expanding its investment and increasing high-quality product exports to potential markets, including Southeast Asia and Vietnam.

Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Barbara Szymanowska hailed the significance of the event as a chance to open up cooperation opportunities.

According to Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department for European Market Duong Hoang Minh, bilateral trade reached 660.6 million USD in 2014, up 32.2 percent from the previous year.

However, the potential has yet to be fully tapped as direct investments remain low, he said, hoping that the pending free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Union would facilitate cooperation between enterprises.

He also stated that an inter-governmental committee will be set up to intensify coordination in high-potential fields and mitigate difficulties in their bilateral relations.

At the conference, participating Polish companies introduced their products and machines serving food and agricultural product processing and shared experiences in applying technological solutions in mineral processing
