Vietnamese students in Japan hold congress

The Vietnam Youth and Student Association (VYSA) in Japan held its congress to vote on the leadership board for the 2013-2014 term on January 20.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Counsellor Nguyen Phuong Hong, on behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, appreciated the positive activities of VYSA over the past year and desired the VYSA continue to be a central factor to help Vietnamese youth and students in Japan strengthen solidarity and mutual support in study, research and in daily life.

 She also hopes the VYSA would continue to actively participate in exchanges and diplomatic activities, including activities to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations in 2013. Minister Counsellor Nguyen Phuong Hong said the embassy would continue to support activities of VYSA in the coming time and wish the congress success.

 Secretary of Foreign Office of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kyoshi Shimonishi, said Vietnam-Japan relations are developing very well with the exchange of visits by leaders of the two countries, especially in the context of the two countries celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

 According Mr. Shimonishi, in addition to strengthening high-level exchanges, Japan also wants to promote people-to-people exchanges and he wanted to have more Vietnamese students coming to Japan to study to acquire knowledge, advanced technology, and understanding about the culture and people of Japan, and then return to Vietnam to actively contribute to building the country and become a bridge to strengthen exchanges between the two peoples of the two countries.

At the congress, former Chairwoman of VYSA Nguyen Thi Thu Hong announced the results of the vote for the executive committee for the 2013-2014 term and Ms. Le Minh Ngoc is the chairwoman.

Chairwoman Le Minh Ngoc said the VYSA would continue to maintain and further promote the movement activities, especially actively coordinating with the Embassy and other agencies and organizations of Vietnam and Japan to organize events to mark the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year 2013./.
