10 sports highlights in 2015

Sports activities of Binh Duong Province in 2015 were eventful with many important achievements and awards. In retrospect, BDO is pleased to introduce ten of many outstanding events took place in 2015.

1. Ly Hoang Nam won at Wimbledon boys’ doubles

 

Ly Hoang Nam of Binh Duong attained many excellent achievements in national and international games, he is also the leading tennis athlete of Vietnam. In 2015, after winning the boys’ doubles, in the afternoon of April 18th 2015, Ly Hoang Nam also won the boys’ singles at the Asian Close Junior Championships 2015. With the score achieved, Ly Hoang Nam jumped to 14th ITF (May 11, 2015).

The best performance in 2015 by Ly Hoang Nam was being the champion of Grand Slam final, junior event. Hoang Nam and Sumit Nagal defeated Reilly Opelka (USA) / Akira Santillan (Japan) with the score 2-0 (7-6 and 6-4) in the final round, surprising young tennis world.

With these achievements, Ly Hoang Nam honored to represent the youth of Binh Duong province attending 2nd Congress of Vietnamese Young Talents in Hanoi, Vietnam.

 

2. Nguyen Van Kien, won gold medal at World Bodybuilding in Thailand

Nguyen Van Kien joined Binh Duong’s bodybuilding since 2013. In 2014, at the National Cup of the clubs, he successfully medaled the gold and at the National Sport Congress VII 2014, won 1 bronze medal. In 2015, he were claimed gold and bronze medals at National Bodybuilding Championship for classic male, young male and Fitness 2015 and National Fitness Championship 2015, respectively. At World Fitness Championships 2015, Kien impressively won a gold medal in classical content for a height up to 1m60, which is an honour to Vietnam and Binh Duong province’s bodybuilding. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Provincial People Council awarded Certificate of Merit to Kien for his excellent performances.

 

3. The 2015 Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Viet Nam-Binh Duong

 

RFC are the only international and most professional car racing in the Rainforest Challenge racing system (RFC) worldwide. There are about 30 countries in this system. The 2015 Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Viet Nam-Binh Duong was held from Oct 31 – Jul 11, 2015 with 31 vehicles of the national competitors of Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai). The tournament is an opportunity to promote the image of a dynamic, developing, friendly and hospitable Binh Duong province to international friends.

 

4. Becamex Binh Duong F.C won the V-League and National Cup

 

After the coronation in V - League in 2014, Becamex Binh Duong team played successfully and won the V - League 2015. Becamex Binh Duong F.C had won this cup for 2 consecutive years in 2007-2008.

 

5. Mai Truc Vo, the chess players impressed with the achievements

 

Mai Truc Vo (born 2001) is currently a young chess player of our province. She was appointed to the international grandmaster 2009 World Chess Federation for her outstanding performances throughout 2007 - 2014. In 2015, Mai Truc Vo continued winning 2 gold medals in chess championship for youth group of Southeast Asia in Singapore; 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at National Youth Chess Championship in Lam Dong; 1 silver medal at 2015 National Best Young Chess Players in 2015.

 

6. First runner in 18th National Fitness Championships 2015

 

For the first time, Binh Duong’s bodybuilding defeated powerful competitors like HCMC, Dong Nai, An Giang ... to be the first winner in National Fitness Championships 2015.

The team won the first collective prize with 8 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, and ranked first for men's team.

 

7. Binh Duong’s U13 team ranked third at National Mobifone Football Cup 2015

There were 10 strong teams across the country competing in the final round of National Mobifone Football Cup 2015. After the convincing performance against Viettel 2 (2-0), Hai Duong (2-1), Binh Dinh (5-0), U13 Hue (2-2), U13 team of Binh Duong and U13 team of Song Lam Nghe An drew 1-1 in the semifinals. Bing Duong’s U13 team were only be defeated with the score 3-4 in the dramatic penalty shoots and ranked third in the competition.

 

8. Binh Duong’s Karatedo team firmly asserted its power

 

For the first time, Binh Duong’s Karatedo team was awarded the trophy of the 2015 National Karatedo Tournament for Strong Clubs for the best results of 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal.

Also in 2015, Binh Duong’s Karatedo delegated Vietnam to participate in Southeast Asian Karatedo 2015 held in Laos and won 3 gold medals.

 

9. Binh Duong Male Volleyball Team wins silver medal at National Young Volleyball Championship 2015


National Young Volleyball Championship 2015 with 12 male teams divided into Table A and B. Binh Duong team was very convincing in achieving first runner in Table B after defeating Tra Vinh, The Cong, Ha Noi, Dak Lak and Hoa Binh. At the semi-final, Binh Duong players won Quang Nam team 3 -1. In the final match, Binh Duong team was dominated by Khanh Hoa and won the silver medal. Besides, Ngo Dinh Hai won the title of the best libero.

10. Organising 4 national motor racing championships for 110cc, 125cc, 135cc and 150cc engines in 2015


The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Vietnam Sports Bicycle and Motorbike Association successfully organized four national motor racing championships for 110cc, 125cc, 135cc and 150cc engines, as follows: the first round on 01/04/2015; the fourth round on Apr 30 - May 1, 2015; the ninth round on Oct 17 – Oct 18, 2015; the eleventh round on Dec 12 – Dec 13, 2015 at stadium of Army Corp No4 - Di An Town.
