Over the past time, Binh Duong’s youths got involved in practical activities for soldiers who are protecting the nation’s sea and islands. These activities also expressed the local youths’ national patriotism as well as their responsibility to national sovereignty over sea and islands.
Practical activities
Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that provincial Youth Unions at all levels last year realized nearly 50 youth programs and works valued at VND2.5bln from the “Sentimental Attachment to sea and islands” Fund contributed by the local youngsters.

Noticeably, provincial Youth Union signed a coordinative program with the High Command of the Maritime Police Zone 2 in the 2015-2020 period and inaugurated a water filtration station worth VND750mln with the capacity of 500 liters water per hour in Quang Ngai province. Provincial Youth Union also awarded 16 scholarships, 7 gifts worth VND50mlnm to the offspring of needy soldiers who now work for the High Command of the Maritime Police Zone 2.
In addition, provincial Youth Union supported VND255mln to build a road to the flagpole on the Cu Lao Xanh island and its campus; organized art performances and presented gifts worth nearly VND200mln to soldiers who have residential registration books in Binh Duong, but do their duty on Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago; donated 5 water filters to border posts in Binh Phuoc province and supported VND125mln to construct 2 classrooms valued at VND125mln in North Dong Phu Industrial Park.
Taking part in the 2015 “Youths for national sea and islands” journey, provincial Youth Federation’s art troupe brought special items to people and soldiers on 11 islands and DK1 platform; gave them a set of musical instruments worth VND100mln, lacquer paintings of Uncle Ho’s portrait and among others.
Provincial Youth Union and Youth Federation are also effectively implementing the campaign “Sentimental attachment to border areas and islands” with many significant activities, including awarding scholarships, gifts worth VND87mln to the offspring of maritime police and fishermen with extremely difficult circumstances at the Naval Zone 5’s High Command, soldiers at DK1 platform; donating an outdoor recreational area valued at VND300mln for children in Phu Quy island district in Binh Thuan province.
Affectionate relationship between army and people
Not only provincial Youth Union, its affiliates also maintained many activities towards national sea and islands over the past time.
Di An town’s Youth Union last year held a delegation to visit and present gifts worth VND30mln to soldiers at Dacka border post in Binh Phuoc province; donated 1,000 notebooks and gifts worth VND10mln to needy pupils, offered gifts worth VND2mln to 2 martyrs’ families in Bu Gia Map commune…
Meanwhile, TDM city’s Youth Union organized the 2015 volunteer spring program in Binh Long town’s Phu Duc ward in Binh Phuoc province with such practical activities as providing medical check-up, medicine and gifts for more than 100 locals, visiting and presenting gifts to 5 policy beneficiary families, giving 2,000 notebooks for pupils at Vo Thi Sau primary school…
Phu Giao district’s Youth Union also signed a friendship program with Dak Bo border post in Binh Phuoc province and donated 2 sets of computer to the unit; gave 300 notebooks, 130 sets of clothing for needy pupils in Bu Gia Map district. Whilst, Thuan An town’s Youth Union visited and presented 50 gifts worth approximately VND50mln to Phu Quy island district.
Besides, provincial Business Bloc’s Youth Union visited and extended Tet greetings to soldiers at Dak Bo border post; presented 330 gifts worth VND155mln to difficult households; provided free medical check-ups, medicine for more than 200 ethnic minority people in border areas; gave 200 Tet gifts worth around VND22mln and clothes for ethnic people minority people…
