Cambodia, UK discuss climate plan

UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and Cambodian Minister of Environment Say Sam Al discussed Cambodia’s climate plan before the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and common priorities towards carbon emission neutralisation, forest regeneration, biodiversity and illegal wildlife prevention during their meeting on June 23.

 UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and Cambodian Minister of Environment Say Sam Al discussed Cambodia’s climate plan before the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and common priorities towards carbon emission neutralisation, forest regeneration, biodiversity and illegal wildlife prevention during their meeting on June 23.

Raab mentioned close commitments between the two nations, including the 30th anniversary of the UK’s embassy opening in Cambodia. He also lauded Cambodia for its achievements in economy, trade, health care and education.

Say Sam Al informed Raab about Cambodia’s successes in environment and natural resources protection.

According to him, the UK could assist Cambodia in environment such as supply of human resources, and trade.

He suggested the UK consider buying Cambodia’s carbon emission credits, which could be used for wildlife protection, economic development and improvement of people’s livelihoods./.
