Food inspections spurred

Implementing instruction of the provincial party committee’s standing committee and the central inter-sectoral steering board’s plan on boosting management of food safety in service for Tet holiday, the provincial steering board of food safety and hygiene has set out an inter-sectoral inspection plan to ensure food safety and hygiene in the coming Tet and the full moon of the 1st lunar month.

Nguyen Ngoc Hung, vice head of the provincial bureau of food safety and hygiene, said inspection delegations at all levels have spurred inspections on food safety and hygiene in service for the upcoming Tet holiday to timely prevent and find out violations on food safety and hygiene.

Accordingly, the provincial units will pay inspections across production facilities, supermarkets and trade centers whilst district units will check medium and small processing workshops, eateries and traditional markets.

Reportedly, in 2012 the province occurred 4 food poisoning cases, killing 2 people. Also the year, the entire province set up 967 inspection delegations to check food safety and hygiene across 17,273 workshops and eateries.

Aside from inspections, the steering board has spurred promulgation to raise the community’s       awareness on food safety and hygiene, cooperated with local mass media to disseminate regulations on food safety and hygiene.

To protect health and minimize food poisoning, every customer should be an inspector fighting against violations on food safety and hygiene.
