State President Truong Tan Sang has urged the French National Assembly to support the nation’s strengthening of ties with the EU and early ratification of the Vietnam-EU Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA).
At a reception for President of the French National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee Elisabeth Guigou in Hanoi on December 16, President Sang expressed his delight at the sound development of cooperative relations between the two countries in all fields.
Regarding East Sea issues, President Sang underscored China's illegal construction of oil rigs and man-made islands in the East Sea, threatens regional security and violates the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
He thanked France supporting the nation’s stand on resolving disputes by peaceful measures in accordance with international law and the DOC and accelerating the signing the future Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC) to maintain maritime and aviation security.
He congratulated France on its successful organization of COP 21 and sent his condolences regarding the reprehensible Paris attack.
For her part Mrs Guigou revealed French President pays special attention to Vietnam and hopes to visit the country at the earliest time.
She said France is willing to cooperate with Vietnam to resolve issues related to the East Sea. She hoped that PCA would be approved in early 2016.
