Investments in local vocational training projects

From renovation on vocational training

A symposium on “Vocational training meets businesses and labor market’s demand” and supportive policy for businesses involving in vocational training and job placement for local laborers are an opening way and a bridge between vocational training schools and companies.

Nguyen Phung Trung, vice director of the provincial department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that from this symposium Binh Duong has built the projects of “Renovation and development of vocational training” and “Vocational training for rural laborers”. These projects have timely met demand on developing key trades and private and State-run vocational training schools have been chosen to join in these projects.

As statistics, Binh Duong now has 9 key vocational training schools reaching the national standards, 6 of which are under management of provincial level. Trung added that this year’s expense for the “Renovation and development of vocational training” project is at VND15bil and is allocated for 5 schools, each VND5bil, including Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College, Viet-Han Intermediate Vocational School, Tan Uyen Intermediate Vocational School, Di An Intermediate Vocational School and Binh Duong Intermediate Vocational School. Until now, Tan Uyen Intermediate Vocational School, Di An Intermediate Vocational School and Binh Duong Intermediate Vocational School’s items have been ratified by the provincial People’s Committee.

In 2011 and 2012, Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College enjoyed a VND9bil allocation from the central budget to invest in equipment whilst the central earmarked VND2bil for Binh Duong Intermediate Vocational School in 2012 for purchasing facilities.

To vocational training investment for rural laborers

To meet businesses’ requirements and offer vocational training classes for rural laborers, the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sector at all levels in cooperation with relevant mass bodies has held vocational training classes for rural laborers by combining with periodical meetings as well as composes 70 vocational training books for rural laborers and 440 labor market and career information books.

In addition, the sector has assisted rural laborers to join in vocational training classes with 6 groups of trades including rubber cultivation, care and exploitation, cooking, computer fixing and repair, forklift driving and so on.

Trung added that with the 6 groups of trades, from now till the end of this year, the sector has strived to increase the number of learners up to 1,415. At present, there are 29 teachers training jobs for rural laborers, 24 of whom win the required standards, accounting for 82.7%.

To launch the Planning on vocational training network for the 2009-2020 period and strive to train jobs for 40,953 learners in 2014 as well as to foster teaching professional and improve capacity for teachers, Nguyen Phung Trung sets out measures of offering preferential policies for businesses involving in vocational training, spurring promulgation and career consultancy for laborers, especially rural laborers, socializing vocational training, opening more private vocational schools and so on.

The entire province now has 55 vocational training schools including 5 colleges, 1 university, 7 immediate ones, 12 centers and so on. As of June, 2013, vocational training schools received and trained 16,637 learners, winning 51.68% of their plan. From now till the end of this year, these vocational training schools will admit 1,830 students for college level, 2,850 for immediate one and 27,527 for elementary one, lifting the rate of trained laborers at 66%.
