Update: 19-07-2013 | 00:00:00
Japan has granted USD3.3 million for Vietnam's human resources development scholarships (known as JDS program) in 2014 - 2017.

The Exchange of Notes on the Grant Aid was signed in Hanoi on July 18 by Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Tanizaki Yasuaki and Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan. It was followed up by a Grant Agreement signed between Mr. Mori Mutsuya, JICA Chief Representative and Mr. Tran Ba Viet Dung, head of International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Education and Training.

The JDS program, which has been implemented since 2000, targets young government officers with potential to play leadership roles in their specialties after returning to their country. Young government officers of Vietnam are provided with opportunities for academic research on institution building for growth promotion, transport/urban development, agriculture and rural development, environment, development of legal framework, and public administration reform at well-known Japanese higher education institutions such as Hitotsubashi, Nagoya, Tsukuba, Meiji, Kobe, Kyushu, Hiroshima and International Christian.

So far, around 363 young Vietnamese government officials have received the scholarships for studying master degrees in Japan.

Under the newly granted scholarship program, Vietnam will send 30 graduates for master’s courses in Japan in 2014-2015. Applications for the 2014-2015 program will begin in August this year./.
