Eagerness to schools 

Phu Hoa 3 Elementary School was just completed to welcome the new school year and enrollment of students from Quarters 3, 7, and 9 of Phu Hoa Ward in Thu Dau Mot City. In the first school year, 920 students shall be enrolled to the school. At the first day meeting, teachers have guided the students to follow school and classroom regulations. Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Principal of the school said that the school had been fully equipped with functional classrooms for computers, English, music, tools, and library for a whole new school year.

Arriving at Tan Dinh Elementary School in Ben Cat Town, we were welcomed by Ms. Hong Thi Ngoc Thao, monitoring teacher of Grade 1.3, telling us about the first week of instruction to the students. 

After over two months of summer holiday, August 11 became a day of school returning of over 800 junior high school students. In the first session of school starting day, the teachers introduced curriculum and learning methodology. For Grade 6 students, they were led around the school to have a look at the school yard and functional classrooms. 

Senior high students also started their schooling. As informed by Ms. Pham Thi Hoa Hanh, Principal of Trinh Hoai Duc Senior High School in Thuan An Town, senior high students had gathered up for school on August 4 and August 11 was their first day of school officially. Trinh Hoai Duc Senior High School is organized as a high quality school with extra curriculum in the afternoons to support students in entrance examinations. 

Schools in remote and rural areas have also started schooling. Mr. Ta Tan Tuan, Deputy Head of Dau Tieng District Office of Education and Training remarked that the movement of encouraging family childrens to start schooling, the population of elementary schools was relatively high in those areas. 

In Phu Giao District, for the 2014-2015 school year, the sector has mobilized 96% of children at preschool ages, 100% of children of Grade 6 age, and 75-80% of enrollment to Grade 10. 

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Head of Education and Training Office, informed of the recent examinations to select 3 Grade 6 classes to supply to Tran Hung Dao Junior High School, and 4 other classes to supplement to Phuoc Hoa and Bui Thi Xuan Junior High School. 

On the same day, 13,948 elementary school students and 7,887 junior high students of Tan Uyen Town have returned to schools. According to Mr. Le Viet Hung, Head of Education and Training Office, the two education levels eyed additionally over 2,000 new students enrolled. In the stage of recent enrollment to Grade 1, all the children aged 6 hae started their schooling across communes and wards. For the schools not having enough classrooms to accommodate 6-year-old students, the sector is to allocate the students to nearby schools to increase classroom population. 

In localities of high quantity of immigrant students such as Thuan An Town, Di An Town, and Ben Cat Town, students have also returned to schools. Although the student population increased, the allocation had been smartly made to assure enough placement of the immigrant students. 

Basic and thorough reforms 

Mr. Duong The Phuong, Director of Binh Duong Provincial Department of Education and Training informed that in the school year of 2014-2015, the sector concentrated to implement action plans of the government and local Party Committee regarding the basic and thorough reforms of education and training to satisfy the needs of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of market economy oriented to socialism and global integration. 

Accordingly, the sector shall continue to develop schools and classrooms to enhance facilities and equipment for teaching and learning while matching reforms with developing staffs. The criteria of resolutions of Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee shall be fulfilled. 

Inspection and check-up of duties of educational institutions shall be enhance with strict punishment against violation. Concurrently, the sector shall concentrate on comprehensive education including ethical, lifestyle, and physical education of the students to focus on promoting national standardized schools including education projects of Hung Vuong High School and high quality junior and senior high schools locally from 2012 to 2017 and from 2010 to 2020.
