Local schools prepare positively for fresh start

According to the plan set out by the provincial department of Education and Training, the fresh start days for students of all academic levels include high school level on Aug. 11, pre-school and continuing education levels on Aug. 18. In order to prepare for the 2014-2015 new academic year, right from the early summer vacation, the provincial sector of Education and Training positively prepared for the event.

  English teachers must experience tests.  

More new schools

The provincial sector of Education and Training often receives additional about 20,000 students for all academic levels in every new school year, mainly in pre-school and primary levels. To help all students get seats in schools, including children of immigrant laborers, the provincial administration annually earmarks expenses for building new schools.

According to Tran Hieu, vice director of the provincial department of Education and Training, as of the end of July, the sector completed 14 schooling works with the total investment capital of VND773.477bil. It is expected that 23 more works will be finalized in this year’s opening ceremony of school year.

Thu Dau Mot city is the locality winning a rapid relatively pace of schooling development. Over the past years, the city inaugurates new schools. According to Nguyen Huu Phuoc, head of the city division of Education and Training, 2 schooling works to be inaugurated in this year’s opening ceremony of school year include Tan An and Phu Hoa pre-schools. Moreover, 3 other pre-schools are under construction at wards such as Phu Tan, Chanh My and Hiep Thanh.

On every the new academic year, the local sector of Education and Training sets a plan to offer equipment and teaching aids for all schools. In this year, the sector equips local schools with teaching aids, textbooks, new desks and so on with the total value of tens of billions of dong.

All students go to schools

Employees of the local sector of Education and Training seemed to be busy in every summer vacation. They both involved in repairing classrooms and preparing for admission plans. The entire province has 314,600 students from pre-school level to high school level in this year, according to the provincial plan on educational development. With the motto of all students go to schools, primary schools in cooperation with localities set lists and send invitation letters to parents to ask for taking their children to schools.

Pre-school education sector gives priorities to admit 5-year-old children in a bid to implement the project of pre-school education universalization while 100% of local children will be admitted into the first grades and 100% of children completed the primary level will be admitted into the sixth classes. In addition, the sector held the entrance exam for excellent 6th graders to study at schools such as Chu Van An in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Thang in Di An, Trinh Hoai Duc in Thuan An town, My Phuoc in Ben Cat town and Tran Hung Dao in Phu Giao district.

Meanwhile, the provincial department of Education and Training also organized the entrance exam of intensive English classes for 6th graders at 21 secondary schools across the province. As for the 10th grade level, the sector completed the 10th grade entrance exams with 70% of students admitted into public high schools.

Preparing teaching staff

Annually, before ending the school year, the sector re-checks the number of teachers at schools to timely supplement human resources for schools in need.

This year, the sector needs to recruit 2,299 employees to supplement for schools in need. In recent years, the sector of Education and Training renovates teaching methods and applies technology into lesson composition, so teachers must be good at foreign language and informatics. Therefore, the sector sets out standards on English and informatics for candidates. Additionally, the sector held training courses on knowledge and politics for all employees and teachers.

Until now, work on preparing for the new school year has basically completed by the sector and localities. All bound for the goal of overall improving quality of education and training for all level students.
