Local sector of culture-sports and tourism: Looking back after one year

2015 was the year full of the efforts by the province’s sector of culture-sports and tourism in fulfilling the set targets and making changes compared to the previous years. Noticeably, the sector organized cultural-sports activities at locals’ demand for recreation; reaped high achievements in terms of sports-physical training.

Cultural activities diversified

In 2015, provincial Traditional Art Troupe and Center for Culture-Cinema organized 457 art performance shows, beyond the year’s plan. The Centers for Culture and Information of districts, towns and TDM city also teamed up with relevant units to hold nearly 80 cultural art performances and 50 mobile film shows for locals.

The province’s sector of culture-sports and tourism also opened expos and trade fairs to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 10th provincial Party Congress. In addition, the sector instructed the Centers for Culture and Information of districts, towns and TDM city to open expos, contributing to introducing the local achievements and serving the demand for entertainment of people from all strata.

According to Nguyen Thi Minh Nghia, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism, in a bid to raise locals’ spiritual life, the sector will make improvement in both operational form and content of provincial Traditional Art Troupe, Mobile Propaganda-Cinema and mass art troupes. The sector will also create advantageous conditions for private art units to develop, enriching the local art forms.

Sports-physical training on robust development

Last year, the province’s sports-physical training also reaped successes. The local mass sports movement was constantly enhanced with in-depth development in order to successfully carry out the Politburo’s Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW on enhancing the Party leadership to develop sports up to 2020 in association with the plan on implementing the “All people take physical exercises following the example of the great Uncle Ho” campaign. The sector organized 12 sports tournaments at provincial level and 60 at district level, absorbing thousands of athletes from units across the province.

The province’s high achievement sports field also affirmed its position in the national arena. The sector focused on making investment in 23 key events and carried out socialization for 6 events: football, volleyball, tennis, women’s cycling, golf and Taichi. Last year, the sector organized 12 national and international sports tournaments. The province’s sports teams also participated in 113 tournaments, securing 674 various medals.

Nguyen Phu Yen, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism said that 2015 was a successful year of the local sports-physical training. Ly Hoang Nam along with his Indian partner Sumit Nagal snatched the Champion title of Boys’ Double for junior category in the 2015 Wimbledon Championships. Nguyen Van Kien won a gold medal at the 7th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships. Becamex Binh Duong had a stunning football season with a dual win on both the V-League and the National Cup arenas. The province’s volleyball team grasped a silver medal at the 2015 National Junior Volleyball Tournament for the first time…

Upholding achievements done, the sector will implement a plan on organization of the Olympic Run Day 2015 for people's health in order to diversify mass sports movements and improve their quality. The sector will also send athletes and coaches to training courses at home and abroad to improve their competence for better competition; set up plans to develop some events…

At a conference reviewing the sector’s activities in 2015 held today, many outstanding collectives and individuals will be awarded the certificates of merit. On this occasion, 12 individuals in the field of folk art performance will be also conferred the title of “meritorious artisan”.
