National Student Mathematics Olympiad prizes awarded

The contest presented five special prizes, 57 first prizes, 117 second prizes and 150 consolidation prizes of two subjects, including Algebra and Calculus.    Five students  prsented special prizes.

The 21st National Student Mathematics Olympiad in the central city of Da Nang drew the participation of nearly 900 outstanding teachers and students representing 88 universities, colleges, and academies from across the country.

During the six-day event, a workshop on renovating the content of mathematics programs at technical universities was held to exchange methods and experiences in the study of mathematics among leading professors in Vietnam.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Tran Quang Quy affirmed that maths has a crucial role in college and university curricula. He said mathematical development is also key to solving socio-economic issues.

The contest is organised annually by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and Vietnam National Union of Students. Next year’s contest will be held at Pham Van Dong University in the central Quang Ngai province./.
