One hundred and twenty one athletes from across the country are competing at the 2013 National Weightlifting Championships, kicked off in the northern city of Hai Phong on September 17.

 

Nineteen participating sporting delegations are representing Bac Ninh, Danang, Dak Lak, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Soc Trang, and hosts Hai Phong.

Hai Phong Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department Director Doan Duy Linh said this year’s competition features many outstanding weightlifters, some of whom have great chances for success at upcoming international tournaments.

 The competition is divided into the snatch and the clean-and-jerk in women’s weight divisions between 50kg and 90kg and men’s weight divisions between 56kg and 100kg.

The championships will run until September 20.
