Late May 22, provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially kicked off the 2014 provincial Open Southeastern Karatedo Championship at Binh Duong New City’s Physical Training and Sports Center.

This year’s tournament absorbed more than 130 athletes from 6 units in TDM, Ben Cat, Phu Giao, Tan Uyen, Thuan An, provincial Physical Training and Sports Center together with many other localities: HCM city, Can Tho, Dong Thap and Tay Ninh.

Participating athletes raced for 14 sets of medals in 24 team and individual events for men’s weight categories ranging from 40kg-75kg, and women’s weight categories from 36kg to 68kg.

After two days of fierce competition, the tournament concluded on the afternoon of May 23. The organizing board presented 24 sets of medals for excellent individuals and teams. With 9 gold medals, Can Tho city topped the tournament. It was followed by Binh Duong provincial Physical Training and Sports Center with 8 gold medals and Dong Thap 1 with 5 gold medals.
