President begins State visit to Denmark

President Truong Tan Sang and his entourage arrived in Copenhagen on September 18, beginning his State visit to Denmark at the invitation of Queen Margrethe II.

The Vietnamese President was greeted at the airport by Queen Margrethe in a grand welcome ceremony.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties on November 25, 1971 , Vietnam-Denmark ties have come a long way. Last November, Denmark chose Vietnam as one of the 10 partner countries for its strategy on market expansion.

As of last December, Denmark had 104 investment projects worth over 630 million USD in Vietnam . Last year, two-way trade hit nearly 430 million USD. The figure is expected to reach 1 billion USD by 2016.

Denmark is also one of the biggest providers of official development assistance to Vietnam.

The same day, President Sang is scheduled to attend a banquet hosted by Crown Prince Frederik, visit Copenhagen port, and meet with staff of the Vietnamese embassy and overseas Vietnamese community in the country.
