After two-year implementation, Binh Duong has so far fulfilled twenty six projects and twenty seven key tasks on environmental protection, contributing to building up a green, clean, nice and civilized city.

Efforts to overcome difficulties

According to members of provincial Steering Board for Environmental Protection Program, most projects under the program have being implemented and some of them have reached good results.

Despite hurdles, the Steering Board has made efforts in the implementation of twenty six projects and twenty seven key tasks on environmental protection, bringing Binh Duong considerable achievements. Binh Duong has no more facilities causing serious environmental pollution under the decision of Prime Minister of Government. But, Binh Duong has still set up a list of facilities causing environmental pollution for settlement, contributing to improving the quality of the environment. The province has also guided enterprises to make investment in waste water treatment systems to well realize environmental protection, aiming to prevent the appearance of “hot spots” on environmental pollution.

Outstanding achievements

One of Binh Duong’s outstanding achievements in environmental protection is the development of self-management squads regarding environmental protection. The whole province has so far set up 561 self-management squads on environmental protection. Noticeably, Thuan An town’s Fatherland Front Committee has built up a program on environmental protection in association with the campaign of “The entire people consolidate to build up a cultural lifestyle in residential areas”; composed regulations on environmental protection in quarters and hamlets, raising public awareness of keeping environmental hygiene.

The self-management squads on environmental protection have also established security forces on duty at “hot spots” on environment. Especially, the self-management squad of Binh Dang quarter in Binh Hoa ward in Thuan An town has mobilized the local people to raise fund for making pavements for pedestrians and install wastebaskets in public places while mobilizing them to grow and tend green trees in the front of their houses for a healthy living environment.

Provincial Youth Union has also set up youth volunteer squads on environmental protection at all levels. Over the past time, hundreds of the local young people actively got involved in significant activities to protect the environment, including collecting waste; tidying up streets, monuments; eradicating illegal advertising boards…

Pham Hong Thang, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that activities to keep environmental hygiene for a healthy living environment have been regularly implemented by the local young people. They have contributed to raising the local young people’s awareness of protecting the environment and to combat climate change.
