Provincial People’s Committee Chairman: harmonious and anti-wasteful investment into school facilities

July 16, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee Le Thanh Cung host a meeting to listen to reports on monitoring of planning and investment into development of schools and classrooms in the province from 2011 to 2015.The monitoring team informed that education and training facilities had been rapidly developed to meet the demands of school students. So as to ensure sustainable development of the locality, the sector of education and training made major and urgent orientations to planning and developing national-standard facilities.The planning includes:- Establishment and construction of kindergartens and elementary schools at newly formed communes, wards, and towns;- New constructions to meet the annual demands;- Offer boarding schools to 100% of kindergarten and pre-school children; - Offer 2 session a day for 70% of elementary schools;- Expanding the pivotal 2-session-a-day at secondary schools;- Splitting junior high from junior-senior high schools;- Intense investment to specialized, high quality, and human resourcing institutions;- Constructing schools facilities to back up project of “universal eduction to children at 5” from 2011 to 2015;- Constructions should meet up criteria of new rural areas in field of education and training across 30 pivotal communes from 2011 to 2015;- Upgrade of facilities to ensure 60-65% of public schools to be national standardized until 2015.Chairman Le Thanh Cung demanded for planning concentration, which would be up to standards, harmony and avoidance of waste, in districts and the city to create land funds for education development. He called for focus on priority for facility review of districts and towns of Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat, and Tan Uyen and Thu Dau Mot City; for slowing down construction progress in Phu Giao and Dau Tieng.The province would also semi-review socialization of education and encourage domestic and foreign investors to join in. As for measures, he stressed on preparation for investment staying close to urban, agriculture, and rural area development.
