Vietnamese workers are assessed as hard-working, clear-headed and agile. The RoK remains one of the biggest labour export markets for Vietnam. A Vietnamese worker can earn VND 1,000-1,500 per month, even up to VND1,600-1,800 per month for sailors, Toan noted.
The Korean Government uses an annual assessment of national economic growth to determine the number of guest workers they need every year. The final number from Vietnam will be based on quotas for 16 countries which send workers to this country. Vietnamese guest workers account for one third of RoK guest workers.
According to the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK, approximately 116,800 Vietnamese workers are living in the RoK, of which 66,000 are guest workers, 45,000 are married to Koreans and 5,000 are students
