Runner Quach Thi Lan won a gold medal at women’s 400m hurdles at the ongoing 2019 Asian Athletics Championships in

She was viewed as the favourite in the final as the silver medallist of the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD).
Lan clinched her gold with a time of 56.10s. Bahraini Jamal Aminat, who bagged a bronze medal at the 2018 ASIAD, finished second in 56.39s.
Earlier, Le Tu Chinh contested in the women’s 100m semi-final. However, she failed to book a spot in the final with a time of 11.69s, slower than her best performance at the National Sports Festival last year.
