Southeastern “Don Ca Tai Tu” Festival 2016 to kick off

Evening May 14, the opening ceremony of Southeastern “Don Ca Tai Tu” (southern amateur music) Festival 2016 took place at Binh Duong Culture - Movies Center.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Huynh Vinh Ai, , Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Le Huu Phuoc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Propaganda Training Committee; Mr. Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

With the theme “Sweet flavor of the South", the festival took place in May 14 and 15 with the participation of 11 “don ca tai tu” troupes from An Giang, Ben Tre, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Long An, Vinh Long, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang and Binh Duong. In addition to performances, on May 15, troupes joined art exchanges organized at 5 localities: Thu Dau Mot City, Thuan An, Di An town, Tan Uyen town and Phu Giao district.

The festival was hosted by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with inh Duong Province People’s Committee to celebrate the election of the 14^th National Assembly and People's Council delegates of the 2016-2021 tenure; create a useful playground, opportunities for amateur musicians from 11 provinces, cities in the eastern, southwest region to exchange, learn experiences of forms of “don ca tai tu” recognized as heritage by UNESCO. This was also a necessary step to prepare for the 2^nd National “Don Ca Tai Tu” Festival 2017.
