Thuan An City develops synchronous infrastructure connection, riverside urban areas

Planning orientation in the coming time of Thuan An City assemble resources prioritizing development of western area of the city, forming an urban axis along the Saigon River in the direction of high-rise mix, creating motivation for becoming a commercial and service center, building Thuan An City as a civilized, prosperous and beautiful city that is commensurate with the potential and advantages of the city.

Development of trade and services

Currently, the traffic connection between Thuan An City with Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) and the planned important routes between the two main functional areas in the area are urban - production - warehousing area in the eastern area of the city, tourism service area in the west of National Highway 13. Development of external routes and urban axes, such as the Belt Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City, has been consulted by the Project Management Board of the Ministry of Transport and has a feasibility study report with the Central capital. The upgrade of Binh Duong Boulevard, from Le Hong Phong to Vinh Binh Bridge, and the upgrade of DT 743 are in the compensation process using the province and business’ funds.

In addition, the city has agreed to connect traffic from the planning area of Phu Quang Company's housing complex to Ngo Chi Quoc Street, Binh Chieu Ward, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh). Currently, Phu Quang Company is developing urban housing - services - trade complexes according to the province’s policy. Besides, the city completed and put into use projects of Thuan Giao 02, Thuan Giao 10, Hung Dinh 23, Hung Dinh 24, An Son 01... The city is investing in the construction of An Thanh ward resettlement area, upgrading and expanding BKV19 Street, Thuan Giao 25 Street. In addition, the city is also preparing to invest in projects to upgrade and expand Dong Tu Temple Street, Chau Van Tiep Street, the Street into the sports and culture center...

Over the recent years, Thuan An City has encouraged and called for investment in trade development, accelerated services, especially high-quality services such as logistics, post and telecommunications, banking and finance, healthcare, tourism accommodation combined with industrial parks, residential areas, forming a diverse trade network. To implement the plan to develop conventional markets, supermarkets and commercial centers, the city performs a program of "Vietnamese people prioritize the use of Vietnamese goods", creating good changes in society for the use of Vietnamese goods, assisting businesses in exploiting the domestic market, improving competitiveness and brand recognition.

Nguyen Thanh Tam, People's Committee Chairman of Thuan An City, said: "In recent years, Thuan An City has been developing rapidly according to the development rate of population, urban infrastructure and service commercial facilities. Some new residential projects, supermarkets, restaurants, especially some modern high-rise apartments on main roads, such as Binh Duong Boulevard, My Phuoc - Tan Van, DT743a etc. have changed the development space, urban appearance of Thuan An”.

To speed up the progress of riverside roads

However, in order for Thuan An City to become a trade service center that needs to develop evenly among localities, quickly perform key works to create urban interconnections, connections with other localities in the province, and inter-regional connections, especially the development of roads along the Saigon River.

Ha Minh Tuan, Chairman of An Son Commune People's Committee, said currently in the planning of Thuan An City, An Son commune will become a ward. According to the orientation in the new period, An Son will continue to utilize the potential and strengths of a riverside commune, focus on ecotourism development combined with orchards, and raising the level of An Son port, especially for the development of trade and services, creating momentum for socio-economic development. There are currently 45 main roads in the commune. However, the connectivity of these routes has not yet been a driving force for local development.

According to Tuan, if the Saigon Riverside is implemented and put into use, it will become the main route of the commune, creating connections with other localities, at the same time promoting economic efficiency, creating a breakthrough for An Son. Types of commercial services will be stimulated and change the appearance of the city, heighten people's lives.

In the coming time, Thuan An City will pool resources to prioritize development in the western area of Thuan An, develop the Saigon riverside area combined with different types of accommodation, commercial urban services, in order to develop riverside tourism services associated with ecological development. To complete criteria of class-1 urban area, build Thuan An City as a civilized, prosperous and beautiful city.

In the report to the delegation of provincial leaders recently, Nguyen Thanh Tam said that the planning orientation for the coming time of Thuan An City would develop urban axes along the Saigon River in the direction of a high-rise mix. Specifically, the Saigon River flows through Thuan An City has a length of about 13.6km through Vinh Phu, Lai Thieu, Binh Nham and An Son communes. According to the plan, the Saigon riverside route from Ba Lua Bridge (Thu Dau Mot City) to Vinh Binh Bridge (Ho Chi Minh City) has a total length of 13.2km. Projects have been executed along the Saigon River, including: Residential and resettlement area of An Son commune; Eden - Thuan An high-rise complex; Saigon Riverside Park; traffic works; system of ports, inland waterways. The Saigon Riverside corridor from Vinh Binh, Vinh Phu ward to An Son port is planned as an important landscape axis of the city and makes an important contribution to the development of Saigon Riverside services and creates golden land areas for high-quality urban development.

According to Tam, the nature of this corridor is the development of a multifunctional high-rise mixture such as trade - service, restaurants, hotels and high-quality housing and service complexes associated with the Saigon River. Besides existing residential areas, lodging houses will be upgraded, transport and sewer. To develop new residential housing projects on agricultural lands.

Regarding the planning for architectural space for urban areas, urban axes of Thuan An City, includes Binh Duong Boulevard, My Phuoc - Tan Van – Belt Road 3; DT743a, Ho Chi Minh City – Chon Thanh Highway; Belt Road 3 Binh Chuẩn - National Highway 22, the section passing through Thuan An City. Corridors of urban main axes and urban main roads are planned as high-rise mixture. Binh Duong Boulevard and My Phuoc - Tan Van Road are multilevel traffic axes, including MRT railways.

Nguyen Khoa Hai, Director of Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: "Thuan An City needs to accelerate the development of tourism along the Saigon River in connection with localities in the southern region of the province and Ho Chi Minh City. To study the planning for walking streets, night markets along the Saigon River to create a mixed urban space."

Nguyen Thanh Tam, Chairman of Thuan An City People's Committee, proposed that relevant departments and branches continue to increase investment in key projects connecting Thuan An with other regions, in order to create a driving force for harmonious urban development and investment attraction. To invest and upgrade the expansion of the Saigon River dike to develop riverside tourism services tied to ecological development. To promulgate appropriate preferential policies to intensify socialization resources for projects in fields of culture, sports, healthcare, education, transportation and social housing in the city."
