To ensure safety, order and hygiene during Lunar January Festival

After the Lunar New Year, religious establishments in Thu Dau Mot city such as Hoi Khanh Pagoda, Tay Tang Pagoda, and Mazu Goddess Temple have welcomed pilgrims. To ensure public security and help people travel with peace of mind, law enforcement agencies are coordinating with the Buddhist Executive Committees to enhance propaganda, patrol, and crime prevention efforts.

According to the statistics from the provincial Buddhist Church Executive Committee of Vietnam, there are about 10,000 people visiting the pagodas at the beginning of the year at Hoi Khanh and Tay Tang pagodas and others. The security situation, traffic safety, and fire prevention at these locations are being closely monitored. Tourists are advised to only light one incense stick (or not to light incense nor burn worshipping paper at all) to ensure fire safety. The environment cleanliness is improving, which is also a beauty that visitors to the pagoda can enjoy.

At Ba Pagoda (Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot City), where the main rituals of the Lunar New Year Festival take place, Mr. Tran Vinh An, Deputy Permanent Member of the Ba Pagoda Executive Board, stated: "The work of ensuring security, order, traffic safety, food hygiene and safety, environmental sanitation, and propaganda activities to serve the Lunar New Year Festival in 2024 has been specifically implemented. The Management Board of Ba Pagoda is also coordinating with the Steering Committee of Thu Dau Mot City to determine to fulfill the assigned tasks to maintain the beauty of the "Free Festival" and this year elevate it to an environmentally friendly festival.

To ensure security and order, the Management Board of Ba Temple organizes security forces for 3 shifts/day (each shift with 16 people); installs 16 security cameras connected to the Phu Cuong Ward Police, the Phu Cuong Ward People's Committee regularly checks the situation to prevent robberies, pickpocketing, and scams targeting tourists. Concurrently, relevant authorities also coordinate to inspect buying and selling activities, parking services.

Mr. Vuong Thanh Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Cuong Ward, stated that to ensure security and order, safety for tourists, the People's Committee of the ward coordinates with the Inter-Agency Cultural and Social Department of Thu Dau Mot City, Market Management Team, Police etc. to carry out inspection and handling of violations in the cultural field; assign inspection forces to maintain security and order, ensure business order, services, environmental hygiene, prevent begging on key routes. The security assurance will be carried out from February 9th to 10:00 PM on February 24, which is from the 30th to the 15th of the first lunar month of the lunar year.

Earlier, the Firefighting and Rescue Police Team of the Police Department of Thu Dau Mot city, in collaboration with the Phu Cuong Ward Police and the Management Board of the Mazu Goddess Temple in Thu Dau Mot city, also organized propaganda and inspection activities for the firefighting at the Mazu Goddess Temple. The Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Team has disseminated regulations on fire safety; reminded visitors to comply with fire prevention and fighting regulations; and checked the actual safety equipment for fire prevention and fighting, such as emergency lights combined with exit signs, electrical systems, mini fire extinguishers, water pumps ensuring that equipment and vehicles are ready to respond in case of fire or explosion.
