Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh on May 31 had a working session with Head of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Commission for External Relations, Jorge Marti, as part of his current visit to the Latin American nation.
Mr. Marti showed his admiration for Vietnam’s recent achievements, considering them good examples for Cuba to follow as it is also building a socialist economic model.
He gave presentation on the Cuba’s political, economic and social situation as well as the preparations for the 6th congress of the Communist Party. He underlined Cuba’s determination to make more effort to develop the traditional friendship between both countries and thanked Vietnam for consistently supporting Cuba.
Minister Anh spoke highly of Cuba’s achievements, despite the 50 year embargo imposed by the US. He said he was confident that the Cuban people will overcome all their problems and become even more successful in the future.
Later the same day, Mr. Anh met with the Cuban Minister for Culture Abel Prieto Jimenez, Minister for Foreign Relations Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and the President of the National Institute of Sports, Julio Cristian Jimenez.
During their meetings, both parties stated they would strengthen unity, friendship and bilateral cooperation, especially in culture, sports and tourism.
Minister Anh also opened a Vietnamese Cultural Week, beginning with a gala night entitled “ Vietnam-the Country and its People” to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Cuba.
