Vietnam were knocked out of the qualifying round at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Championship in Indonesia on August 6 after drawing with Myanmar 2-2 in the fifth match of Group A.
Meanwhile, Myanmar and Indonesia topped the group and qualified for the next stage.
La Min Htwe scored the opener for Myanmar in the 12th minute, but Dinh Thanh Trung equalised in the 27th minute after taking advantage of a goalkeeping error.
In the 60th minute, Yan Kyaw Soe got his name on the scoresheet to make the score 2-1 to Myanmar, leaving Vietnam needing two goals to earn a place in the next round.
Trung gave Vietnam hope in the 72nd minute by making it 2-2, but the team was unable to go the extra mile.
In earlier games, Vietnam crushed the Philippines 6-1, lost to hosts Indonesia 4-2, defeated Timor Leste 4-0 and beat Cambodia 1-0.
