Vietnamese and French scientists and researchers met in Paris on July 3 to celebrate thirty years of cooperation between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

In his speech, VAST President, Professor Chau Van Minh highlighted the effective cooperation between the VAST and the CNRS over the years which have lifted their strategic partnership to a new height.

He referred to various forms of cooperation from the exchange of scientists to the building of the International Associated Laboratories (LIA) under the international program of scientific cooperation.

Over the past 30 years, thousands of Vietnamese researchers have studied at the CNRS and more than 100 have done their Master and PHD degrees there.

For his part, CNRS President, Professor Alain Fuchs expressed his belief that under joint cooperation projects, researchers will be able to focus on issues of mutual concern.

At the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on LIA FOCOMAT for the 2013-2016 period was signed.

During its visit to France from June 30 to July 6, the VAST delegation has worked with French Minister for Foreign Trade Nicole Bricq, Astrium company, the French Museum of history and some research affiliated to the CNRS.
