World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Sweden has revised their Fish Guide and has put Vietnamese tra fish on the green list, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) on December 23.
Earlier, the Vietnam Commercial Affairs Office in Sweden informed that the Vietnamese tra fish sector fulfilled its target of gaining 10 percent of ASC-certified tra fish in 2012 and is striving to reach 100 percent of tra fish products having a responsible breeding certificate, including 50 percent gaining the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certificate.
WWF Sweden then deliberated and placed Vietnamese tra fish on the green list of their Fish Guide. In addition, WWF Finland's website has run articles about Vietnam’s tra fish sector having fulfilled targets of sustainable production in 2012 under the ASC standard.
These are good signs for the Vietnamese tra fish to improve its status in the world market./.
