After various postponements due to Covid-19, Binh Duong karate team attended two national tournaments to earn great achievements by the instruction of two young coaches of Nguyen Minh Phung and Truong Ngoc Hoang, gaining valuable gold medals and contributing to general success of sports in Binh Duong in 2020.

Binh Duong young karate team win high prizes at national tournament 2020

Accordingly, after the young and national tournament 2020 in Bac Ninh province in mid October 2020, Binh Duong karate squad won 2 gold medals and 2 silver medals at national championship. In the meantime, at national young tournament, brilliant performance brought back 4 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals. Concluding the two tournaments, Binh Duong karate squad was ranked fifth before 39 participating squads of this year’s tournaments. The achievements are delightful as in last year’s competition, Binh Duong karate squad maintained its position in top 5 of national strongest squads.

Not long after the two mentioned tournaments, the squad of Nguyen Minh Phung and Truong Ngoc Hoang coaches continued to dispatch at National Cup 2020 in Hue where they performed impressively to win 8 gold, 6 silver and 12 bronze medals. Of the winners, fighters of provincial center for training and competitions won 3 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals, Tan Uyen town squad won 2 gold and 1 bronze medals, Bac Tan Uyen district squad won 1 gold and 1 bronze medals, Thu Dau Mot city squad won 1 gold and 1 silver medals, Thuan An city squad won 1 gold and 1 bronze medals and Phu Giao district squad won 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.

The mentioned achievements proved that the karate training movement in the province has been strongly and evenly developed across localities. The regular maintenance of satellite clubs and development of more new training sites have contributed to the discovery and training of more talents for rate 1 team of the province. Aside from 12 fighters of rate 1 team of the province, the remaining fighters are only in the grassroots. On getting to the tournaments, they have been tested and trained in terms of techniques and physical strengths to perform better in official tournaments. This helps to build up strong karate squads of regular fighters at national competitions like Thanh Duy or Chi Thanh.

“What pleased me is that the young fighters have overcome pressure and be stable at the arenas. This is decisive to success at recent tournaments, encouraging us to get karate movements of Binh Duong to higher and further targets in the next years. We are thankful to local department of sports and predecessors for their help, encouragement and support for our success,” said Nguyen Minh Phung.
