Malaysia: Three suspected of plotting terror attacks nabbed

Update: 18-10-2017 | 21:21:51

Three men, including a 19-year-old student and a 35-year-old former soldier, have been nabbed by Malaysian authority for terror attack plots.

The arrest was made in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan state, Malaysia last week. Police seized home-made explosive devices enough to cause damage within a 30-m radius and several materials used to produce bombs.

According to Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun, their targets included a beer festival and non-Muslim houses of worship.

The suspects, believed to have links with the so-called Islamic State (IS), had successfully detonated one of the bombs at home, he said, adding that the police were not ruling out the possibility that they managed to get the guidelines to produce bombs from the IS.

Some 989 suspects have been arrested by Malaysian authority from 2012 to April 2017 for involving in terrorism.-VNA
