2013 Mekong River Delta cycling tournament kicks off

The 22nd Mekong River Delta cycling tournament yesterday kicked off with the 70km first stage from Ho Chi Minh city to Ben Tre. Do Tuan Anh of Domesco Dong Thap won the first stage with a total time of 1:30.7.

This year’s tournament has absorbed 105 cyclists from 19 domestic teams, including Eximbank HCM city, Saigon Plant Protection, Vinamit HCM city, BTV-Binh Duong, Domesco Dong Thap 1 and 2, ADC-Vinh Long Television, An Giang Plant Protection… as well as the amateur American representatives Tamouh.

From HCM City, the race route winds through Mekong River Delta provinces, including Long An, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, and Kien Giang. After a total length of 912km, it will end in Long Xuyen city on August 28. 

The tournament’s team and individual event winners will receive total cash prizes of more than VND250 million. Particularly, the overall team champion earns VND25 million while the overall winner of the yellow jersey pockets VND25mln…
