About 100 adventurers will participate in the second Tu Lan Adventure Race 2016 in the central Quang Binh province from April 1 to 3.
The organisers of the race, Oxalis Adventure Tours and Vietmark Team Building, said 10 teams will compete in a boat race that involves various caves and other features in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, covering 30km of trails and rivers.
This adventure-filled race combines racing in untamed rivers in a traditional Doc Moc (dug-out canoe) boat, jungle treks, climbing up and down hills, and swimming in underground rivers.
The race organisers said competitors would have to overcome their fears and challenge their limits, but they would also explore many incredible places in Tu Lan area with several magnificent destinations such as Rat Cave, Hung Ton Cave and Hung Ton Valley.
The main purpose of the race is to create a new playground for those who love challenges and exploration, love to join nature conservation activities, and want to provide community support. A certain percentage of the proceeds from the tickets will go towards the construction of floating houses, which will help poor households in Tan Hoa village.
The race promises harder challenges and completely new experiences with absolutely unforgettable moments in the wildest jungles of Vietnam.
The winners of the first prize will get 50 million VND (2,270 USD), while the runner-up and third-place winner will get 40 million VND and 30 million VND, respectively.
The organisers are also presenting a media prize of 35 million VND.
