Agricultural sector projected for growth of over 3%

In the morning of December 29, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Standing Member of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Standing Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches attended an online conference to summarize the agricultural sector and agricultural development in 2021 and implementation of the plan in 2022.

In 2021, the country's agriculture and rural development sector has faced many difficulties and challenges as the COVID-19 epidemic affected all aspects of life, economy and the society. However, by the close direction of the Central Committee and the close coordination of all levels, branches and localities, the joint effort and overcoming difficulties of the business community, cooperatives and farmers has created a remarkable growth step of effective disease prevention and control and promotion of production and development to fully serve the needs of domestic consumption and export. In the year, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was estimated at USD 48.6 billion, far exceeding the target of USD 42 billion set by the government; total food production reached nearly 44 million tons. The added value of the entire agricultural sector in 2021 was estimated to increase by 2.85 - 2.9%, of which agriculture increased by over 3.18%...

In 2022, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has strived for the growth of the whole industry to reach over 3% as the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was over USD 50 billion; the focus was on developing in-depth, based on the application of science - technology, digital transformation, diversified markets and products, improved quality and built brands of agricultural products to increase competitiveness.
