All students to schools in 2013-2014 academic year

Update: 09-08-2013 | 00:00:00
In the 2013-2014 academic year, the province eyed additionally 24,000 new students to all-level of schools. The increasing student population is popular in localities of high industrial development including towns of Thuan An and Di An. Parents are submitting files to register for their children to schools at Di An Town Office of Education and Training Such pressure of student population has been challenging local Department of Education and Training. The most pressure is on elementary schools where children of immigrant workers dominate local resident children. In Di An Town, elementary schools have enrolled 5,649 students to the first grade. It is expected that the number should increase as more parents register for their children.Mr. Tran Dang Nam, Head of Di An Town Office of Education and Training informs that in 2013-2014 academic year, three new elementary schools and 60 new class rooms shall be put into use to meet the allocation of 2,000 new students. However, the facilities are always on the verge of overloading due to immigration population.Thuan An Town is in the most pressure of all to allocate thousands of children to first grade of elementary schools due to increasing population of immigrants. For the year to come, Thuan An Town shall admit nearly 1,000 more school students across wards of Binh Hoa, Binh Chuan, Thuan Giao, and An Phu, etc. as the top localities of overcrowded school students. In An Thanh Ward, only three elementary schools are operating but the allocation of school students is overloaded due to drammatical increase of student population.Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Principal of Ly Tu Trong Elementary School informs that the school shall open 6 Grade 1 classes to ease the pressure. Along with increment of classes, the classroom students also increase up to 40 plus students a classroom. And, under a brief investigation, 50% of the students enrolling to local schools are immigrants from other provinces and cities. So as to ensure enough classrooms for the students, staffs of Ly Tu Trong Elementary School have to make use of their meeting hall and reallocate classroom student quantity. Meanwhile, An Phu Elementary School faces the same circumstances. The over-increasing population of student population shall be resolved by the sector of education and training. As informed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, An Thanh Ward People’s Committee held meeting with principals to discuss enrollment plans. In Di An Town, the education and training sector built 3 new schools while retaining older facilities to mitigate the pressure in 2013-2014 academic year.Accordingly, Dong Hoa Junior High School shall be moved to new area while leaving 19 classrooms to Dong Hoa Elementary School. Tan Binh Junior High Shool shall be moved to new area while leaving 15 classrooms to Tan Binh Elementary. As the matter of fact, Dong Hoa Ward and Tan Binh Ward are not facing pressure of elementary student population.Reported by A. Sang – N.Thanh – Translated by Vi Bao
