Animated Tai Chi festive day

Morning 20th September, elderly people gathered at Binh Duong New City to attend the 1st provincial Open Tai Chi Festival, which was an interesting playground, helping the elderly to live happily, healthily and usefully.

According to provincial Culture, Sports & Tourism Department’s Deputy Director Nguyen Phu Yen, this was the first time the department cooperated with provincial Tai Chi Society to host a large-scale festival in order to encourage the movement of Tai Chi exercising among elderly people with the purpose of “Living happily, healthily, usefully for society”, and create an playground for the elderly to exchange training experiences. This was also a deed from provincial leaders to commemorate the 23rd International Day of Older Persons (1st October 1991 – 1st October 2014).

 

There were over 1,700 persons from 19 delegations, including 13 provincial delegations and 6 ones from Long An, HCM City, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Vinh Long, and Binh Phuoc at the festival. The opening ceremony consisted of performances from provincial Tai Chi club’s members. Then everybody gathered at Centralized Administrative Center to perform the obligatory exercise including 7 movements, 56 rates. Following were performances of teams. Athletes showed their good ability, skillfulness through movements.

 

Ms. Ngoc Loan coming from Vinh Long said: “This is the first time I come to Binh Duong, where has a strong Tai Chi movement. We learned a lot from your organization and training. Additionally, we can visit new city with many beautiful buildings”.

 

After 2 days, the festival ended with 14 prizes awarded to 14 outstanding delegations. TDM City won prize for team performing the obligatory exercise, Di An town, TDM City, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau won first, second, and third prize for elective performances. Prizes for best teams were to TDM City, Thuan An town, and Di An town.
