Truong Thanh Nga, Chairwoman of provincial Women's Union presents flowers as congratulation to godmothers who are businesswomen
According to Truong Thanh Nga, Chairwoman of provincial Women's Union, the "Godmother" program has received the attention of the Party Committee, local authorities and the support of groups and individuals in and out of the province. Especially, the positivity and responsibility of provincial Women's Unions at all levels with many specific and practical ways have initially brought remarkable results. Many orphans with difficult circumstances received timely support and care, helping them stabilize their lives and strive to study.
The program also spread to provincial Women’s Unions at all levels. Officials of provincial Women’s Unions at all levels acted as a "bridge" between units, organizations and individuals, supporting orphans, due to Covid-19 pandemic and other causes. As of October 2023, provincial Women’s Associations at all levels have mobilized and connected support for 1,679 orphans, with a total of gifts and cash worth more than VND 16 billion through many forms of support.
At the end of phase 1, many outstanding organizations and units were honored. Association officials also had many different forms of contribution to the program. Further loving
At the preliminary conference of the phase 1 to continue the "Godmother" program in the phase 2 recently held, we were truly touched by many situations. Nguyen Thi Xuan, 33 years old, lives in Tan Uyen city’s Tan Phuoc Khanh ward with 3 children aged 10, 8 and 2 years old. Her husband passed away in a traffic accident less than a month ago.
Vu Kieu Nu is emotional when receiving a small gift from her adopted child
Talking to us, she couldn't stop her tears. She said that she and her husband came to Binh Duong to make a living from Dong Nai. Although having low income, they still tried to raise their family. Now, she has to buy mushrooms and vegetables to sell at the market alone. “No matter how much I work, it's difficult to take care of my family. Both paternal and maternal families are in difficulty, so I’m very happy when the Women's Union has mobilized the Association of Women Entrepreneurs to adopt my children”, Mrs. Xuan said with tears in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Thach Soc Kha, an ethnic Khmer man, currently living in Tan Uyen City, lost his wife, due to Covid-19. He has three children. The two older ones are working and independent. The youngest daughter is in 8th grade. He has never been sponsored before, so now he is very happy when hearing that his youngest daughter is being supported to study.
Talking about the "Godmother" program, Mrs. Nga added: "After Vingroup's Thien Tam Fund, provincial Association of Women Entrepreneurs is the second unit that has signed to accompany the Women's Union to provide timely support for children orphaned by Covid-19 with 38 mothers registering to sponsor 105 children. During the process of sponsoring, monitoring and supervising, we realized that even though the mothers were busy with business and production management, they did not forget to call to inquire and arrange time to visit, play and experience with the children, thereby strengthening the mother-child emotional connection between the sisters and the adopted orphans."
Also according to Mrs. Nga, during the support process, some mothers lost contact with their sponsored children and in some cases they were interrupted. Through exchanges between provincial Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Women's Union, mothers who are businesswomen wish to continue accompanying their children on their journey to adulthood. “As of now, there have been children receiving many sources of support. There have been orphans, due to other reasons with really difficult circumstances, but have not been supported by provincial Women’s Union associations at all levels. Provincial Women's Union has guided its branches to provide support in a way that does not focus many resources on one child (except in cases where the situation is too difficult and requires many resources); expand the number of targeted groups, including orphans, due to other reasons, children without support", Mrs. Nga shared.
