Binh Duong improves tourism products and services to absorb more visitors

To absorb more visitors, Binh Duong-based travel companies have recently attached special importance to improving the quality of tourism services and products while launching many attractive programs.

Binh Duong as of October 2013 had 102 hotels (including 14 start standard hotels and 88 motels meeting standards on tourism residence) with 2,592 rooms; 19 international and domestic travel units. It was estimated that the number of tourists to Binh Duong in the first 10 months of 2013 reached 2,313,500 arrivals (including 170 international arrivals and 2,143,500 domestic arrivals) or 54% of the year’s plan. Of these, the Lac Canh Dai Nam Van Hien tourist complex welcomed 1,325,000 arrivals.

Possibly speaking, there has been a sharp increase in the quantity and quality of province-based travel companies at tourists’ demand for entertainment. They have also reached the annual growth in the total number of tourists and total revenue, contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development.

In addition to improving the quality of tourism products and services, province-based travel companies have so far made efforts in tourism promotion, attracting more tourists traveling to the local tourist sites and taking part in such activities as the HCM city Tourism Day, the Southern Land Cuisine Festival…

Binh Duong over the past time also issued handbooks of Binh Duong tourism, successfully organized the “Lai Thieu in ripe fruit season” 2013 festival; signed a cooperative program on tourism development with Dong Nai; hosted sports tournaments at national, regional and international levels…, contributing to promoting Binh Duong’s tourist potentials, building up Binh Duong’s tourism brand name among partners at home and abroad.

Provincial People’s Committee has also adopted the Project on “Binh Duong’s specific tourism products development till 2015 and orientations for 2020”, and the Project on “Binh Duong tourism promotion in 2013 and 2015 period and orientations till 2020” with the goals of developing specific tourism products, which will be an important foundation to concretize the local tourism development, contributing to shifting the local economic structure towards the growth of tourism services in order to step by step turn them into the local key economic sector in the coming time.

However, according to provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there are now shortcomings in the local tourism sector for change. The province has continued implementing the local tourism development projects till 2015 and vision for 2020 towards diversifying tourism products; focused on tourism infrastructure construction, especially developed waterway tourism routes, effectively exploited the values of historical-cultural relics and landscapes for sustainable tourism development.

The province will also further uphold the role of provincial Tourism Promotion Center; build and announce tourism products; carry out a survey of tours; organize fairs, seminars, exhibitions…to enhance the image of Binh Duong’s tourism to foreign and domestic tourists.
