Update: 31-10-2012 | 00:00:00

The Health Ministry’s Traditional Medicine Bureau’s inspection delegation last weekend paid a working session with some localities and workshops across the province to learn about the local operation of traditional medicine. On the occasion, Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with the bureau vice head Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.

In the working session at localities and workshops across the province, what do you think about the provincial operation of traditional medicine?

Overall, the provincial picture of traditional medicine is relatively bright. We realize Binh Duong province has paid attention to developing traditional medicine. Specifically, the provincial People’s Committee has set out decisions and plans to implement the Government’s Plan 2166 and to steer the local Health Department and the department’s affiliates to execute the plan.

In terms of the State management, the locality has showed its special attention. The local Health Department has experts of traditional medicine. Aside from the provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, general hospitals across districts and towns have had the traditional medicine wards whilst medical stations at communes have cadres relating to the sector.

What should the province do to develop the traditional medicine sector?

Binh Duong is one of provinces having a strong economic development. Under the provincial administration and Health Department’s attention, I believe that the local traditional medicine sector will develop stronger in the coming time.

At present, the provincial People’s Committee’s action plan has specified organization, investment and manpower training in service for the sector development. I therefore think that the local traditional medicine sector will have breakthroughs.
