Binh Duong’s top 5 education events in 2013

The entire province in 2013 had 99.36% of students passing the final exams. The result was thanks to effort of teachers and students during the past school year. Notably, 14 out of 31 schools gained 100% of students passing the final exams.   Many excellent teachers were honored in 2013.

Rate of highs school graduation and university exam passing on the rise

Notably, many schools in remote and rural areas with disadvantages of basic living conditions still reached 100% of students passing the final exams. Schools such as Thuong Tan high school in Tan Uyen district, Phuoc Vinh high school in Phu Giao, Tay Nam high school in Ben Cat, Phan Boi Chau high school in Dau Tiend and many more also gained the set goals. Duong The Phuong, director of the local department of Education and Training said that compared with the past school year, rate of students passing the final exams increased lightly but this showed a sustainable and stable factor as its real value and quality.

With solid foundation and knowledge, students will encounter university entrance exams confidently.

As a results, among 7,410 candidates, there were 4,322 examinees reaching the floor marks, 3,865 others being admitted universities. Among of these, there were 411 students reaching the required marks of 2 universities, 115 class collectives passed university entrance exams with the high rate.

Scope of schools meets learning demand

Possibly speaking, 2013 was the very difficult year for the educational sector, owing to additional increase of 25,100 primary students mainly from immigrant families.

However, the local education and training sector in cooperation with locality proactively equipped schools with material facilities and teaching aids to meet local pupils’ rising demand on learning.

Duong The Phuong said that meeting demand on education development in 2013, schooling network was upgraded and built newly. As of the end of 2013, the entire province built more than 200 public schools. In this year, the local education sector will continue building schooling network for the period of 2013-2015. As such, till 2015 the local schooling network will be built synchronously, ensuring the national standards of material facility.

Facing the rising demand on learning, many organization and individuals have built many schools at all levels, contributing to reduce pressure of overload for public schools. Until now, the whole province has 141 private schools mainly located at Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An and Di An towns and Ben Cat district.

Completing educational universalization for 5-year-old children

The local education sector’s other sparkling achievement in the past year was completion of educational universalization for 5-year-old children 2 years ahead. Specially, Binh Duong issued and concretized some policies for kindergarten teachers.

In the period of 2013-2015, Binh Duong will continue reinforcing, maintaining and developing pre-school education universalization for 5-year-old children.

Building friendly schools and positive students

Since 2008, the local education and training sector has launched the emulation movement of “Building friendly schools and positive students”. Through evaluations, the quality of education and training has reached positive changes.

Since 2013, the movement has been changed into an action plan. In every unit and school, the directorate will issue concrete deeds, eyeing the goal of helping students attach to schools.

Improving quality of English teaching

Binh Duong’s sparkling imprint on education and training in 2013 was the launching of “Improving quality of English teaching and learning at high schools” project.

In order to equip students with skills and confidence in English communication, the local education and training sector signed contracts with teachers from the Philippines to teach English in some schools.

And, to help English teachers reach standards in accordance with the European assessment, the local department of Education and Training has sent English teachers to training classes at the Eastern International University. In addition, the sector has invested in teaching equipment for schools with the expense of hundreds of millions of VND.
