Binh Duong sets an exploit at 9th national Phu Dong sports festival

As of 7:30 of yesterday morning, Binh Duong’s sports delegation excellently bagged 18 gold, 16 silver and 14 bronze medals, ranking fifth in the medals tally of the final round of the sports festival. This is a great exploit as with this, Binh Duong’s sports delegation only ranked after strong localities, namely Can Tho with 18 gold, 24 silver and 22 bronze medals, Thanh Hoa with 20 gold, 20 silver and 64 bronze medals, Ha Noi with 68 gold, 60 silver and 67 bronze medals and HCM city with 110 gold, 83 silver and 78 bronze medals.

Binh Duong also outstripped many other outstanding localities in terms of school sports movements like Long An, Dong Thap, Phu Tho, Da Nang and the host team Nghe An. But,  Binh Duong only ranked tenth after Hai Phong, Dong Thap, Long An, Da Nang, Can Tho, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Ha Noi in the medals tally of the sports festival. HCM city excellently topped the medal tally of the sports festival.

With 3,570 points, Binh Duong ranked seventh on the points table of the sports festival after HCM city with 9,580 points, Ha Noi with 7,854 points, Thanh Hoa with 5,886 points, Da Nang with 4,315 points and Can Tho with 4,155 points.

At the ceremony sending off Binh Duong’s sports delegation to the final round of sports festival, leaders of the delegation only set a target of winning 4 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze medals with a total number of points estimated at more than 250, ranking from 9^th to 14^th among over 63 participating localities. The above results showed that Binh Duong spectacularly surpassed the set targets at the sports festival.

Particularly, Binh Duong pocketed medals in events: football (1 gold medal), chess (1 gold, 4 bronze medals), athletics (3 gold, silver and bronze medals), Pencak Silat (3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals), Taekwondo (3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals), Vovinam (3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals).

Pham Anh Dung who is in charge of Binh Duong’s school sports delegation said that Binh Duong bagged 40 gold, 46 silver and 79 bronze medals, ranking 10^th in the medals tally of the sports festival and was awarded the excellent banner of the Ministry of Culture-Sports and Tourism.
