Binh Duong Sugar cane Research Institute established

Yesterday of February 3, in Ho Chi Minh City, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development announced to establish Sugar cane Research Institute under Southern Agriculture Science Institute at Phu An Commune, Ben Cat District, Binh Duong Province.

The newly-established institute will be in charge of researches and technology transfer regarding product standards, seeds, planting technique, sugar cane processing, strategies and programs to develop sugar cane industry.

According to Mr. Bui Ba Bong – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the targets the Ministry allocated to the institute are to improve average capacity of sugar cane harvest to 70 tons per hectare to be equivalent to nations like Thailand and Indonesia.

In the meantime, the Ministry will promote a center of cross-seedling in Lam Dong Province to grow higher quality sugar cane nation wide in a bid to satisfy domestic needs with orientation to exportation by 2020.
