Building up a new-generation industrial ecosystem with development of industry 4.0

In order to continue developing industrial manufacture, attracting investment and promoting sustainable economic growth, Binh Duong is promoting the development of green and smart industrial parks (IPs). Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) III on March 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested Binh Duong pioneer the construction of a new industrial ecosystem in association with the development of industry 4.0

Green, smart industrial park

Following the success from the development of VSIPs while realizing the strategic transformation towards more sustainable development, on March 19, VSIP Group held the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of VSIP III in Tan Uyen town and North Tan Uyen district. VSIP III is 1,000 hectares, marking a new important milestone for VSIP Joint Venture. This is the third project under the VSIP brand in Binh Duong and the 11th project of VSIP Group in Vietnam.

With a strategic vision, VSIP III is designed to integrate smart technology in its activities from the use of energy, water, waste to traffic management and security. In particular, it spends 50 hectares on building up  an on-site solar farm, bringing reliability and sustainable benefits in terms of power supply to major clients.

Teo Ban Seng, CEO of SembCorp Development, co-chairman of VSIP Group said: “VSIP III marks a significant change for VSIP Group through transformation to be able to develop more sustainably. Smart devices will bring safety, reliability and efficiency to clients and workers. Once being into operation, sustainable features will help VSIP III become one of Vietnam’s greenest and most sustainable working environments.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of VSIP III, Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee believed that VSIP III will be inaugurated and put into operation on schedule, forming up a favorable climate for investors in Binh Duong and the Southern Key Economic Zone. The provincial has always created the best conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to work.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that with the investor's strong economic potential with many years of experience in the market, VSIP III will bring real values to residents as well as potential for strong economic development in the future to the locality. This important project will play a central role in promoting the strong development of local industries and services, greatly contributing to the realization of Binh Duong's goals in the coming time. After being completed and put into operation, VSIP III promises to become a bright spot, a hot economic growth pole, activating the region's real estate market. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expects that the successful project contributes to the socio-economic development of Binh Duong, the southern region and the whole country. The project not only helps the overall development of industries and services, but also promotes innovation, creating a premise for the industry 4.0 and a new growth platform for Vietnam.

New investment destination

Located in the Southern Key Economic Zone, after 25 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has changed from an agricultural province to a locality with strong development in terms of industrial manufacture, urban areas and services. The province is always among the country’s top localities in investment attraction. Currently, the province is home to 29 IPs with nearly 13,000 hectares in total and the land tenancy rate of over 83.4%, promising to continue being a solid foundation for sustainable socio-economic development in the coming years.

At the ceremony awarding investment licenses to enterprises on March 19, the Prime Minister praised achievements done by the people of Binh Duong province over the past time while speaking highly of the province's efforts in mobilizing a lot of resources, with creative ways to invest in upgrading and improving the conditions of transport, industry and service infrastructure, creating a basic foundation for investment attraction, socio-economic growth and improvement of people's lives. “Binh Duong has upheld the spirit of proactivenss, creativity and outstanding efforts in construction and development. This is the proof that Binh Duong is a dynamic, innovative, favorable and safe locality, a new and attractive investment destination for investors", the Prime Minister emphasized. He also believed that Binh Duong will have more breakthroughs in the coming time, creating a driving force for socio-economic development to serve the people and the country.

Also at the event, provincial People's Committee awarded the investment registration certificate to Denmark’s LEGO Group for construction of a 44-ha factory with total investment of more than US$1 billion. The project will operate the first carbon-neutral plant, powered by renewable energy from a solar farm installed by VSIP. Preben Elef, Vice-Chairman of LEGO Group said: “This is the largest project from a Danish company in the Vietnam - Denmark relationship ever. The Group pledges to make positive impacts on the lives of children, future creators. Its factory in Vietnam’s Binh Duong will be the most sustainable factory of the group in the world, creating jobs for thousands of skilled workers.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony and inauguration of Becamex social housing projects, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Becamex social housing projects are the result of right decisions from provincial leaders and Becamex IDC, bringing many positive results to the development of a synchronous ecosystem model: Industry - urbanity - service, helping solve problems on ensuring human resources to attract investment, thereby mobilizing people's resources for urban infrastructure development and community services.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of VSIP III, Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam affirmed that VSIPs formed and developed over the past 25 years are a solid symbol of the fine economic cooperation between Singapore and Vietnam. VSIP investors will accompany Vietnam in the field of innovation, especially in renewable energy and the development of green and sustainable IPs. VSIP III promises to be a model in the region of flexible results in applying technology and innovation, developing a green and sustainable IP as the goal of investors.

So far, there have been 31 domestic and foreign companies learning about the possibility of production development at VSIP III, equivalent to 176 hectares of industrial land and US$1.8 billion of expected investment capital. In addition to awarding investment registration certificates to enterprises in VSIP III, provincial People's Committee also handed over 22 investment registration certificates to enterprises in other Ips in the province. On this occasion, a ceremony awarding memoranda of understanding to enterprises also took place.
