The second Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival opened on October 13 in Trung Khanh district, the northern border province of Cao Bang.

The two-day festival aims to promote Trung Khanh’s images and its people to domestic and international tourists, contributing to the district’s socio-economic development.

The festival included a photo exhibition on Trung Khanh’s people and landscapes, dragon dance performances, a love duet singing contest, folk games, a painting competition on the Ban Gioc Waterfall, a boat race on Quay Son river, and a fair of local specialties.

A concert promoting the friendship between Cao Bang and China’s Guangxi province is scheduled to take place with the participation of music troupes from Guangxi’s Jingxi and Daxin districts.

The Ban Gioc Waterfall is one of Vietnam’s most impressive natural sights. Thirty metres high and 300 metres across, it is the widest, but not the highest, in the country. The falls occur on the beautiful jade-blue water of the Quay Son River, as they flows through a pastoral landscape of rice fields and bamboo groves, surrounded by limestone mountains.
