Vietnam will continue upholding its active, positive and responsible spirit at the 19th ASEAN Summit and related meetings.
PM Nguyen Tan Dung will lead a Vietnamese delegation to the 19th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Indonesia from November 17-19, at the invitation of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The related meetings include the ASEAN + 3 Summit, the East Asia Summit, and the ASEAN + 1 summits with partners (China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, the US and the United Nations).
On the theme “ASEAN Community in a Global Community of Nations”, participants will review the implementation of the agreements reached at the 18th ASEAN Summit, and discuss ways to build an ASEAN community, enhance ASEAN’s international role in the region and maintain a peace stable and cooperative environment in the region.
ASEAN leaders and partners will map out orientations for further strengthening cooperation between ASEAN and its partners, and compare notes on regional and international issues of common concern.
They are expected to sign a statement on ASEAN Community in a Global Community of Nations and approve a number of important documents on ASEAN cooperation, including the ASEAN Framework for Equitable Economic Development, a statement on increasing the participation of persons with disabilities in ASEAN Community, the ASEAN Framework for a Comprehensive Regional Economic Partnership, and the ASEAN Declaration of Commitment on HIV and AIDS.
At the upcoming 19th ASEAN Summit, Vietnam will bring into full play what it has achieved in its capacity as chair of ASEAN 2010, and contribute to reinforcing ASEAN solidarity and connectivity, building an ASEAN community, promoting relations between the bloc and its partners for a peaceful, stable and comprehensive environment in the region.
