Concentrate forces to support people affected by flooding

On October 16, Thuan An City Party Committee directed the entire city's political system to assist people affected by flooding on the evening of October 15, especially in An Thanh and Vinh Phu wards.

Thuan An City authorities are present in alleys to reinforce embankments, helping people stabilize their lives.

Leaders of Thuan An City surveyed heavily flooded alleys in An Thanh ward to direct the repair of damages, help people overcome difficulties, and mobilize forces to reinforce embankments and damaged dikes.  Organizations also organized distribution of free rice and noodles to affected people in alleys in An Thanh ward.

On the same morning, Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Director of Binh Duong Hydrometeorological Station, said that it was affected by the tropical convergence zone with an axis of 13-15 degrees North latitude, connecting with the low pressure area in the middle of the East Sea, combined with the southwest monsoon becoming stronger, so in the past 24 hours, Binh Duong province has had moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, some places had very heavy rain.

Heavy rain at the time of peak tide, combined with Dau Tieng reservoir's flood discharge with a flow of 100m3/s, caused severe flooding in some areas along the Saigon River in Thu Dau Mot City and Thuan An City. It is forecasted that from October 16 to 18, the weather in Binh Duong province will still rain on a large area, high tide level will peak in the morning from 6:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. evening from 19:00 - 21:00.
