Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to launch program of each commune to have an OCOP product

On 17 Dec, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting to launch a program named Each commune to have an OCOP product.

OCOP is a program of economic development in rural areas towards internal resources and adding value. At the meeting, delegates listened to survey results of this program; introduction of the criteria for product evaluation and classification according to the Prime Minister's Decision 1048/QD-TTg dated 20 Aug 2019; participated in discussions about advantages and disadvantages as implementing this program. Thereby, participants mastered the flexible application of OCOP product development processes in accordance with their local situation, based on the actual demands of the market for sustainable development.

The program Each commune to have one OCOP product for the period 2018-2020, with orientation towards 2025 was approved by Provincial People's Committee. The overall objective of this project is to develop forms of production and business for traditional products and services that meet standards and are capable of competing in the market; contributing to restructuring the rural economy, improving people's incomes and lives.
