Early June 29, Binh Duong provincial People's Committee held an online meeting for the June regular session to assess the socio-economic situation, national defense and security in the first six months of the year and implement key tasks in the last six months of 2021. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting. Attending the event were Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Standing Member of the provincial Party Committee cum Standing Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Member of the provincial Party Committee cum Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, branches and localities.

Many criteria gained and exceeded

According to the report of the provincial People's Committee, the province's socio-economy in the first 6 months of 2021 has been maintained for positive changes too achieve many important results in the implementation of "dual targets" along with ensuring social security, political security, social order and safety. Accordingly, the gross domestic product (GRDP) increased by 7.23% over the same period in 2020; the industrial production index was estimated at 8.23%; the total retail sales of goods and service revenue was estimated at VND 131,672 billion, increasing by 10.4%. Export turnover is estimated at more than USD 17 billion, increasing by 47.2%; import turnover is estimated at USD 3.3 billion, increasing by 43.4%; a trade surplus of USD 3.75 billion has been maintained. Budget revenue is estimated at VND 36,600 billion, reaching 62% of the estimate assigned by the provincial People's Council and the Prime Minister, increasing by 23% over the same period. Total budget expenditures has been made at VND 6,000 billion, reaching 23% of the estimate, of which investment and development expenditures was accounted for 35% of total expenditures.

Assessing the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Standing Member of the provincial Party Committee cum Standing Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, emphasized: "Since the last months of 2020, the province has focused to analyze, evaluate and forecast the impact of the epidemic on each industry and each field. Thereon, we develop and implement scenarios and plans to help businesses feel secure to invest, stabilize production and business and restore export markets. The province's economy in the first 6 months of 2021 has many bright aspects, ensuring the achievement and exceeding of the target of the 2021 plan, serving as a prerequisite for the completion of the 2021-2025 plan.”

Determined with the dual targets

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee set out a number of key tasks and solutions to promote growth in 2021. The "dual goals" are steadfastly implemented to ensure the harmonization of economic growth benefits with prevention and control against the Covid-19 epidemic. We should absolutely not be subjective, negligent, nor bewildered, but uphold the sense of responsibility in disease prevention and control, prepare for any arising situations according to the motto of "4 on the spot" and “5K+ vaccines and technology”. Plans and scenarios are developed for disease prevention and control in all situations, especially in cases where epidemics may arise in industrial parks by urgently zoning, stamping out the epidemic, researching and isolating F1 at home in the new situation. In addition, the province focuses on mobilizing legal resources to buy vaccines and inject people by considering this a prerequisite solution to create a foundation for production recovery.

At the same time, the province promptly implemented mechanisms and policies to recover and develop. Solutions are implemented synchronously and effectively to promote development, striving to fulfill the economic growth target in 2021 and the following years. At the same time, promoting production and business activities are focused in each industry and field. In which, the maintenance of production activities is ensured in the context of the epidemic, especially in industrial zones. Prices are controlled to ensure the supply of raw materials for production, especially the maintenance of stable development of the manufacturing and processing industries.

To stabilize the market and reserve essential goods to serve consumer demand and avoid scarcity and price hikes. Advantage of the opportunities of free trade agreements are taken to expand export markets. The attraction and disbursement of social investment capital focusing on public investment capital in 2021 are accelerated. Financial discipline is strengthened striving to complete the State budget revenue and expenditure estimate in 2021. In addition, taking care of people's lives and supporting those affected by the epidemic are focused on.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People's Committee assessed that in the coming time, the epidemic situation will be complicated. In order to prevent the disease from spreading on a large scale, especially in industrial parks, there should be no disruption to the production supplying chain. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao emphasized that both fighting the epidemic and developing the economy are very difficult goals. Therefore, it is required to be flexible to prioritize and harmonize and improvise promptly and effectively to achieve the required purposes.
