Update: 03-12-2012 | 00:00:00

A project of pre-school education for 5-year old children in the 2011-2015 period has reached 58.24% in the province. The province is going to finish the project ahead of schedule.

Teachers positively prepare knowledge for 5-year old children who will be the first graders.

Cooperation and effort

Early 2011, when the project was started, the provincial department of Education and Training received concerted efforts of local authorities, mass bodies. Across localities, 5-year old children were listed to mobilize their parents to take them to school. The province’s highlighted feature lies in high investment in material facilities. Localities spend land fund to build pre-schools.

In the 2011-2015 period the province has spent VND1,185bil to build 31 pre-schools and upgrade hundreds of classrooms. Possibly speaking, pre-schools have emerged throughout communes, wards and even remote localities. Besides, material facilities such as toys, teaching equipments, teaching aids and so on have been added.

Nguyen Thi Hong Sang, vice director of the provincial department of Education and Training, said in service for the project, the department has paid much attention to developing and enhancing quality and quantity of pre-school teachers.

In addition, the sector has constantly fostered managers, teachers and employees for pre-schools, especially staff of non-state pre-schools.

With efforts of early completion of the project, the provincial administration has delivered many policies for teachers and staff of the educational sector, especially those who is working at pre-schools.

Further attention needed

Binh Duong has had a rising rate of immigrants. This triggers many difficulties in implementing the project. Districts and towns such as Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An and Di An are the populous localities.

Dang Thi Kieu Oanh, head of Thuan An town Education and Training division, said the locality is home to industrial parks and compounds, so the number of 5-year old children in the locality always changes, causing difficulties in monitoring children. Study of some children must depend on their parents’ work.

To obtain the goal 2 years ahead of the schedule, a series of works have been set out by the provincial authority. At present, 5-year old children with poor circumstances and children in remote areas have enjoyed policies of school fee exemption and reduction and other assistances. These policies should be published widely. People’s Committees at all levels should cooperate with relevant units to launch plans on building material facilities for pre-schools.

Sang added that the sector would offer favorable conditions and encourage teachers to improve their knowledge and to create a friendly and safe environment for children.
