Water Supply Enterprise of Complex Zone’ officials piped water to households in quarter 2, My Phuoc ward, Ben Cat town

One key factors contributing to ensuring enough water supply in the province is to take advantage of the natural geography of two major rivers, Saigon and Dong Nai River. Pham Van Chien, Director of Water Supply enterprise in Complex zone, who has worked for Bin Duong water supply sewerage sector since its establishment, said raw water pumping stations in water supply enterprises took well riverhead’s advantage of large rivers to build up factories. These factories were modernly constructed, are operated by the SCADA system that is convenient to adjust the supply, avoid weather changes, such as salinization, cloudy water…

Rapid response to customer requirements

Cao Lai Quang, Chairman of Water Supply Sewerage Association, informed that more than 80% urban areas in Vietnam was in a shortage of clean water but an excess of floodwater, due to poor drainage caused by poor planning. Binh Duong started from a low point, but has availed opportunities to access new technologies and manage well investment. Currently, Binh Duong is one locality having the lowest water loss rate in the country, less than 7%. Thanks to utilizing internal resources and mobilizing external resources combined with the implementation of socialization policy, Binh Duong has secured an adequate supply of clean water for domestic activities and industrial production. To achieve this result, the locality has selected, applied modern technologies to offer reasonable prices, due to operating cost savings.

Do Huu Hau, Deputy Director of Di An town Water Supply enterprise, said in addition to ensuring ISO 9001: 2008 quality management standards in the system operations, in 2015, the enterprise reached an output of over 50 million m3, an increase of 12.8%; the number of new customers increased 6.2% compared to 2014, overheads also declined. According to the 2016 plan, the enterprise would expand 100km more of pipelines; increase 10,000 new customers, production output increase by 12%, and guarantee the quality in line with A-column QCVN 14.2008 standard.

Explaining why many neighboring localities are in lack of clean water sources affected by salinization, Mr. Hau said, Dong Nai river gradient was high, then the distance from Hoa An bridge downwards has been salinized. But the length from Hoa An bridge upwards is not affected by salinization. Biwase raw water pumping stations located in Tan Ba and Uyen Hung (Tan Uyen town) are not also affected. Therefore, raw water sources supplied to factories are also secured.
