Along with putting focus on fostering industrial manufacture and trade-services, Bau Bang district has attached special importance to promoting hi-tech based agricultural production models.

Bau Bang district is now home to more than 120 hectares of growing various citrus varieties like orange, tangerine and pomelo. For better results, the district has just set up its Mobilization Board of the establishment of citrus farms’ club with a goal of gathering citrus farms and growers to share mutual experience and seek ways to develop this agricultural model.
Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, Chairwoman of the district’s Farmers Society said that the club will be a place converging the local citrus growers so that they have the chance to better develop their orchards and build up the local citrus trademark as well.
Le Van Phan, Head of the Mobilization Board said: “Citrus is a kind of fruit tree with high productivity and is also the favorite of customers. But, it is very hard for farmers to grow this kind of fruit tree. The club is a place where citrus growers can share cultivation experience, techniques and seek development ways for various citrus varieties”.
Contributing to raising farm produce value
Bau Bang district now has a lot of citrus farms, but some, namely Thanh Thuy, Chin Phan, Ba Chau…have bravely applied Vietgap standards in production with hi-tech economic efficiency and taken part in export activities. Their products are also present at big supermarket chains like Metro, Lotte, Co.op Mart…
Mrs.Tuyet said that under the Resolution of the district’s Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure, the district will develop hi-tech based agricultural production and promote the local key agricultural products, including citrus ones. Initially, the district’s Farmers Society will organize seminars calling for citrus growers to take part in the club, helping them reach higher productivity and step by step applying Vietgap standards in production. The society will also expand the local area growing green-skin pomelos under Vietgap standards by 34 hectares in Tru Van Tho commune and 7 hectares in Lai Uyen commune.
Such these apart, the district is suggesting provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Science and Technology, Plant Protection Sub-Department…to support the local agricultural production under VietGap standards. This will contribute to raising the value of the local agricultural products and step by step building up the local fruit trademark.
Le Thanh Tam, Vice-Chairman of Bau Bang district’s People’s Committee affirmed that developing various citrus varieties is one of the district’s breakthrough programs in promoting the local hi-tech based agricultural production. In the coming time, domestic products, comprising of agricultural ones, will face severe competitiveness when free trade agreements between Vietnam and other countries take effect. Hence, the birth of the district’s Mobilization Board of the establishment of citrus farms’ club will contribute to enhancing the value of citrus varieties, seeking consumption markets for them and step by step building up the local citrus trademark.
