The Mayor of Ho Chi Minh City has proposed that Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj do all he can to twin the city with the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator.
During their November 24 meeting in Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan said the city will spare no effort to effectively realise the agreements recently reached between leaders of the two countries.
Ho Chi Minh City will help local businesses meet and co-operate with their Mongolian partners, he said.
Chairman Quan also voiced his belief that President Elbegdorj’s visit will help strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries and between Ho Chi Minh City and Mongolian localities in particular.
Expressing his pleasure at the outcomes of his visit, President Elbegdorj noted that Mongolia and Vietnam have shared a long-standing traditional friendship initiated by the former leaders of both countries and consolidated and developed by subsequent generations.
He applauded the idea of establishing twinning relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Ulan Bator city, confirming that leaders of Ulan Bator city share the same wish.
Mongolia always welcomes businesses from Vietnam, he said.
During his visit, President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj attended and delivered a speech at the Vietnam-Mongolia Business Forum in Ho Chi Minh City. He also visited the coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
